Sheesh. You *are* good, since I had a hard time finding out myself. But I'll take your word for it.

Now, you want diet or regular?

***Lefty, You will have to translate this. It is the only photo I could find.***

Aw jeez. That's a lot of translating. I'll skip the caption.

Born in 1901 in 's-Hertogenbosch to a provincial, catholic family. His father was in the army and even made it to general. De Quay senior was almsot Secretary of War in the Colijn (former prime minister, around the same time as Hoover and FDR) administration.

De Quay studied Psychology in Utrecht and Economics in Rotterdam. He specialized in what is nowadays knows as Economic Management (I couldn't possibly translate the old title.) He was an advisor at the (Dutch postal service) PTT and the (chain of clothing stores) C&A. After his promotion in 1927 he worked as a lecturer and later as a professor at the School for Economics in Tilburg (later the Catholic University of Brabant.)

The school functioned as a RKSP (used to be a catholic political party) think tank, and as a result the popular professor made a name for himself in national politics. When the second Colijn administration was formed in 1933, De Quay was almost made Secretary but eventually his collegue Romme of the RKSP party was made a member of the cabinet instead.

During the mobilization of 1939, De Quay was enlisted as a captian for the reserve. His primary task - keeping in mind his background - was to keep the morale of the mobilized army up. It was thought at the time that The Netherlands would remain neutral during this conflict as it had been during the Great War.

After the country had capitulated, De Quay had the same choice most people in the public sphere had: (temporarily) co-operating with the Germans, or refuse to. De Quay opted for the former. Together with J. Linthorst and L. Einthoven he founded the Dutch Union in July 1940.

And that's all she wrote. Kind of anticlimactic. What happened next? This is the first time I heard of the guy too. I know more about U.S. history than I know of my own. How sad.

And we have Coca Cola lime here too, but I never really developed a taste for it. I like Vanilla. But seeing as how the world is divided into coke Lime people and Vanilla coke people, I guess I'm alone in that.

Sure. How about a political assassination that implied our secret service? Or a plane crash in Asterdam, where the plane turned out to be loaded with illegal, yet government sponsored arms headed for Israel, and people died of radiation poisoning? Or what about a prosecutor that sends a man to jail of who he *and* the victim know he's innocent, but the victim is ignored?

We have lots of scandals. Usually ending in yet another change in government. Heads. Roll.
